The development of preventive archaeology since 2000 has improved our knowledge of the settlements of the late La Tène in Belgium through the increase of investigated sites. Along with the two partially excavated high-altitude sites of Kemmelberg and Kooigem Bos, there is now better documentation on rural settlements. These sites appear to have an open character with main buildings alongside various secondary buildings and pits. The main buildings, especially in the north, find parallels with examples in the south of the Netherlands. Our knowledge however remains dependent on still very unbalanced regional documentation while some sectors remain largely unknown. Traduction : John Lynch.
