The heart of the village of Montmacq (60) has been known to be archaeologically sensitive since the 19th century. One suspects in particular the existence of Gallo-Roman pottery production and distribution, although no ovens or kilns has ever been identified and no collection has ever been studied. An archaeological diagnostic carried out in 2022 on Rue de la ForĂȘt and Rue Jean-Kostrzewski revealed a part of an artisanal neighborhood. It is integrated into a form of settlement that can be described as vicus or agglomeration. The activities attested throughout the Early Empire are the production of ceramics but also the manufacture of tiles and metalwork, two crafts little documented at the regional level. This paper studies the state of discoveries in Roman Montmacq -conveniently located in the immediate vicinity of the Oise river and a land route- in terms of crafts and trade. Traduction : John Lynch
