As part of an INRAP Research Project, « La Tène burial rites in Picardy », a data bank has been drawn up, covering 70 burial sites in Picardy and the surrounding areas, dating from the 5th to the 1st centuries B.C. and recently excavated. The aim of this project is to characterize types of gestural behaviour and to model the operational sequences, so as to highlight any chronological, local, social and/or cultural variations. It is organized around a number of topics, one of which, wide-ranging and transversal, is entitled “the population”. Based on this data bank, a global study of the buried population has been initiated, as well as an examination of the way the corpses were processed and laid out, whether for inhumation or cremation.
